FAQs

  1. My air-con is not cold:
In most cases, the coil is probably dirty and requires cleaning & servicing. If not, it may require refrigerant.
  2. My air-con is not blowing very well:
In most cases it is probably very dirty and the airflow is inhibited. Once the blower has been cleaned, the airflow will general double.
  3. My air-con rattles when I turn it on:
General it is due to the blower fan  being out of balance.  It is caused by building up of contaminants on the drum. A clean will fix the problem.
  4. My air-con smell when I turn it on:
It is a very dirty air-con and need cleaning. A really bad odor can be caused by small insect  crawl into the air-con and died inside. Cleaning will do.
  5. My air-con is blowing hot air instead of cool air:
if the remote control is in the correct “mode”, then you need a technician to check the gas level and / or the compressor.
  6. My air-con doesn’t switch on at all:
If your remote is “OK”, then you can switch it on manually. You need to get a technician to check the receiving board to fix the problem.
  7. Problem: water leakage
Such a problem if left untreated, will cause mildew and mold to grow on affected parts.
    Reason: Installation fault
    Faulty or cracked condensation pan.
Blocked drainage pipe or the pipe was not installed in a gradient
Insulation has split open or is missing that it couldn’t absorbs the condensation from copper pipes.
Solution: Use quality materials during installation
  8. Problem: The aircon is not cold enough.
    Reason:
    Aircon power under size
If your room is larger than what the BTU can handle, the air-conditioner cannot cool the room sufficiently. The same goes for rooms that produce a lot of heat e.g. too many lights, appliances or people staying in the same room.
Solution: make sure you’re getting the right size for your room.
Reason: The refrigerant is low or has leaked. This fluid is in charge of cooling the air, so if it is low, it decreases the system’s capacity to cool your room.
Solution: get the technician to check.
Reason: The condenser or evaporator coil is dirty. If the condenser coil is dirty, it will affect system efficiency and eventually cause the compressor to burn out.
Solution: You can try cleaning the evaporator coil by using a vacuum cleaner with a brush head attachment. If you’re not sure how to go about doing it, then engage a specialist to do it for you.
Reason: The condenser or evaporator coil is frozen. A frozen condenser or evaporator coil is yet another common problem. In fact, it can interfere with air-flow and cause the coils to freeze: Low refrigerant level, which causes the pressure to decrease and the temperature to drop below freezing point. At this stage, moisture in the air will freeze and it will continue doing so until the coils are frozen over. A low refrigerant level could be due to leaks or it had been undercharged during installation.
Clogged air filters. The outdoor condenser coil is dirty due to a dusty or foliage-filled environment.
The aluminum fins on the evaporator and condenser coils are bent, thus blocking air-flow. get a technician to help The air vent grilles are closed.
Solution: Get a technician to conduct regular maintenance to prevent such problems
    Reason: The thermostat not working.
Its primary job is to measure temperature of the air entering the coil so if it’s faulty or misaligned, room temperatures will be erratic or the air-conditioner won’t turn on.
Solution: Before calling in the technician to check on the thermostat, make sure that:
The temperature is set correctly. Your doors and windows are closed.
  9. Problem: The air-conditioner turns on, but doesn’t work!
    Reason:
It may be due to a power trip.
Solution: Check the circuit breaker and try to find out what is the possible cause before resetting it. If the power trips again, then switch the air-conditioner off and call a specialist!
  10. Problem: My room smells bad after I turn on the air-conditioner.
    Reason: Moisture build-up
This is likely a case of moisture build-up due to the inadequate evaporation of stagnant water, which leads to the growth of all kinds of things like mildew and fungus on affected parts.
Air-conditioners that have been running for hours may also encounter the problem of clogged drainage pipes. As a result, water accumulates in the condensation pan and starts to give off a foul smell after some time.
Solution: Check with the salesperson to make sure you’re getting the right size for your room.
  11. Problem: I can hear strange noises coming from the air-conditioner.
    Reason:
This could be due to any of the following factors:
The blower may be dirty. There may be loose components in your air-conditioner due to wear and tear or misalignment of certain parts. Sometimes the problem can be solved just by tightening a loose bolt, but it’s better to consult a specialist. There may be a refrigerant leak.
Solution: Time to call in the technician
